Workshop on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for Water Treatment
Within the framework of the CIRQUA research project, funded by the European Union (PRIMA), a practical workshop was held at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, on the synthesis of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), the synthesis of metal-organic framework compounds, future trends, and real-life applications of MOFs for harvesting and treating water contaminated with heavy metal ions.
The workshop was organized by Prof. Dr. Hoda Souseh, Acting Head of the Irrigation and Hydraulics Department at the Faculty of Engineering, Ain Shams University, and Prof. Dr. Mona Zayed, Professor at the Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, and the Cypriot team headed by “Anastassios G. Tasiopoulos, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cyprus, whose research focuses on the synthesis and study of functional metal-organic materials with interesting properties and potential applications in various fields such as magnetism, sensing, gas storage and separation, wastewater treatment, soil fertilization, and catalysis.
